Overview
DocuPet provides multiple tools to help reunite lost pets with their families as quickly as possible. Through the HomeSafe® Program and our partnership with Petco Love Lost, pet owners, community members, shelters, and licensing organizations have access to additional resources designed to increase successful reunifications and reduce unnecessary shelter intake.
The Petco Love Lost integration expands lost pet recovery efforts by combining DocuPet’s pet registration and identification services with Petco Love Lost’s nationwide lost and found pet database and photo recognition technology.
What Is HomeSafe®?
The HomeSafe® Program is a complimentary lost pet recovery service included with every DocuPet tag.
Each DocuPet tag includes a unique HomeSafe® Code that is linked directly to the pet’s profile. This code acts as a lifetime identifier, allowing pets to be quickly identified and helping connect finders with the information needed to reunite the pet with their owner.
HomeSafe® is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is supported by the DocuPet HomeSafe® team.
How HomeSafe® Helps Lost Pets Get Home
When a pet goes missing, the owner can log in to their DocuPet Registration account and submit a Lost Pet Report.

During the reporting process, pet owners can:
Confirm their contact information.
Add updated photos of their pet.
Provide details about where the pet was last seen.
Share additional information to help identify their pet.
Once submitted:
Lost pet alerts may be sent to participating DocuPet members within approximately 12 miles of the reported location.
The DocuPet HomeSafe® team begins assisting with recovery efforts.
The recovery team may work with local shelters, animal services organizations, and community resources to help locate the pet.
If someone finds a pet wearing a DocuPet tag, they can:
Use the HomeSafe® Code on the tag to access the pet’s profile.
Submit a Found Pet Report online.
Contact the HomeSafe® team using the 24/7 contact information available on the tag (if selected).
The HomeSafe® team will help notify the pet owner and support the reunification process.
